I would go further and suggest that unless you like to tinker on cars, a 43-year-old MGB could be a bit of a headache. OTOH it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. You can probably get what you paid for it...

Regardless of how well the car has been cared for until now, it will require considerable time and effort to maintain safety and reliability. If you enjoy working on cars, this shouldn't be a problem.

One other thing to check. Maintenance may be up to date, but the tires may not. My GT was like that when I bought it, great tread on 23-year-old tires. Something to think about.
